About the Event
We are pleased to inform you that the 3rd Tongariro Alpine Crossing will take place on Saturday, 10 October 2026. This unique outdoor adventure is proudly organised by the Hindu Women Forum New Zealand, a division of Hindu Council of New Zealand, bringing together participants from across the country to enjoy one of New Zealand's most spectacular natural landscapes while promoting health, wellbeing, friendship, and community spirit.
Many of you may remember that last year's event had to be cancelled due to a major forest fire in the Tongariro National Park just one week before the scheduled crossing. While the cancellation was disappointing, the safety of participants was our highest priority.
We are delighted to bring this popular event back in 2026 and look forward to welcoming both first-time participants and those who have joined us in previous years. The Tongariro Alpine Crossing is recognised as one of the world's finest one-day hikes, offering breathtaking volcanic scenery, emerald lakes, and an unforgettable experience in the heart of Aotearoa New Zealand.
We encourage you to register as early as possible, as places are limited and registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. We also warmly encourage your family members to register and participate alongside you. Their presence and support will not only make the experience more enjoyable but also provide valuable encouragement throughout the event.
